Your brain Is missing the good stuff

Hey Reader,

Change is a sneaky thing, isn't it?

A week ago it was stick city around here in North Carolina. Bare trees everywhere.

Now there are buds! Within one week... white buds, purple buds, and yellow buds!

Every spring I'm mesmerized at how fast nature transforms. One week it looks like nothing is happening and the next week there are signs of life and color everywhere.

But of course the trees did not start changing this week. They have been shifting all along. We just couldn't see the buds yet.

It makes me wonder what might already be budding in your life that you can't quite see the full effect of yet.

Our brains have a tendency we have to watch out for... If we can't see the final result, they like to tell us nothing is happening.

The whole house isn't totally organized, so it ignores the garage you tackled and the drawers that you have already cleared.

Or you want to eat healthier and your brain aggressively points out every piece of chocolate you enjoy and forgets to give you kudos for all the veggies you've been adding to your plate.

It is very good at focusing on what is missing. Not so good at noticing what changes have taken root and are moving us forward.

But noticing matters.

When we notice the buds, we nurture them, and somewhere in that noticing, we find we can actually enjoy where we are right now, not just where we're headed.

This is your invitation to look for the buds. The small shifts, the quiet progress, the things that are already changing even if the full bloom isn't here yet.

Notice them. Name them. Let them count.

Rooting for you, one bud at a time,

Missy

Totten tuning into music

Totten in his radio days Hey Reader, Do you remember the first thought that popped into your mind when you woke up this morning? Was it: “Ugh, I need 3 more hours of sleep.” “Mondays are the worst.” “Today’s going to be a good day.” Our brains start offering us thoughts before our feet even hit the floor. And once you start paying attention, you’ll notice those thoughts usually carry a certain vibe. I like to think of them as music stations. There’s a specific energy behind them that’s worth...

Hey Reader, What are you listening to these days? Podcasts, music, the news, books, meditations? Single speed or sped up? And more importantly… how’s all of that noise making you feel? Energized? Frustrated? Overwhelmed? Calm? Most of us hit play without pausing to think: Will listening to this help fuel me forward or be an energetic drag as I start my week? As you kick off your week - consider pausing before you hit play on your usual routine. And choose a soundtrack that aligns with how you...

Hey Reader, A couple weeks ago, I wrote about my struggle with being a slightly messy human my whole life, and I shared the full story here: I found a gap in my own coaching. Many of you wrote back saying you want to solve this too. Today, I’ll give you a quick inside look at the mindset that has driven me over the past few weeks and has led my home to stay tidier than it’s ever been. You can do this too! Yes, I’ve been implementing strategies you’ve probably heard of before, like the...
